PSG star Neymar has told his team-mates that he won’t return to the club after the World Cup.

The winger, who hasn’t played since February because of a fractured metatarsal, has been heavily linked with a move away from PSG in recent months, with Real Madrid cited as an increasingly likely destination. There have also been claims that he could make a return to Barcelona.

Last year Neymar joined PSG from Barcelona in a world-record €222million (£198million) move but he is now intent on leaving the French club, as reported by AS.

PSG have just two league fixtures remaining this season — at home to Rennes on Saturday night and away to Cannes next week — and, given his current lack of match fitness, there is a possibility Neymar may have already played his last game for the club.

Despite his campaign having been hampered by injury, Neymar has still managed to produce some impressive displays since joining PSG, as evidenced by his 28 goals and 19 assists in 30 games across all competitions.

When at his best, the 26-year-old is capable of tormenting defenders with his trickery and he has already won three trophies with PSG, experiencing glory in Ligue 1, the Coupe de la Ligue and the Coupe de France.
